The South Korean Navy has retired three of its warships from service to make way for two new Daegu-class frigates to be delivered before the end of the year.

The decommissioned vessels are the Ulsan-class frigates ROKS Kyeongbuk (pictured) and ROKS Masan and the Pohang-class corvette ROKS Suncheon. All three ships had entered service in the 1980s.

The navy plans to dispose of the three warships by having them expended as targets during fleet training exercises.
