The Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) newest multi-role response vessel (MRRV) has departed Japan and is now sailing for home waters.

The future BRP Teresa Magbanua left Mitsubishi’s Shimonoseki Shipyard on Monday, February 21. The vessel will be commissioned into service shortly after its arrival in Manila Bay.

At 97 metres long, the future Teresa Magbanua is the largest vessel to be acquired by the PCG to date.

The future BRP Melchora Aquino, the second Magbanua-class MRRV, is currently under construction at Shimonoseki Shipyard. Its delivery is scheduled for later this year.
