Japanese partners to collaborate on development of offshore wind construction vessels

Japanese companies Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Toyo Construction have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on evaluating potential collaboration in offshore wind power plant construction, with the aim of commercialising vessels for offshore construction related to offshore wind power projects.

The two companies aim to open up new business opportunities for work vessels that will be required for offshore wind power projects, based on the demand for vessels related to offshore wind power businesses in Japan and overseas.

MOL’s contribution to the project will be in the areas of construction, ownership, and operation of the vessels while Toyo will focus on marine engineering and related technical aspects.
