The Philippine Coast Guard and some Good Samaritans have successfully rescued two fishermen after their boats were struck by a tornado, causing these to capsize and sink off Sarangani province in the southern Philippines on Saturday, July 3.

The fishermen said they were sailing in the waters off Maasim, Sarangani, when the tornado swept through the same area in the late afternoon (local time) of Saturday.

The two adult males were pulled out of the water minutes later by a responding coast guard rescue team as well as the crews of other fishing boats that happened to be in the vicinity. No injuries have been reported.

The rescued fishermen were later brought ashore to Maasim where local authorities provided them with additional assistance and reunited them with their respective families.
