The frigate HNoMS Helge Ingstad was brought to the main Royal Norwegian Navy base at Haakonsvern on Sunday, March 3, nearly four months after it sank off Oygarden following a collision with an oil tanker.

The warship was lifted out of the water on February 26 with the aid of a submersible barge provided by local heavy lift vessel operator Boa Offshore.

Navy officials stated that Helge Ingstad was brought to Haakonsvern on schedule despite the presence of heavy swells along the route between the incident site and the naval base, a distance of approximately 10.5 kilometres.

The navy is set to hold a press conference to announce its plans for the vessel.
