The Pakistan Navy has confirmed that the keels of two future ships that will join its fleet were recently laid during separate ceremonies held in China and in Turkey.

The keels of the service’s third Type 054A frigate and second MILGEM corvette were laid at the facilities of Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding and Istanbul Naval Shipyard, respectively.

Both ships will be used for anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-air warfare missions.
