Ingram Marine christens pusher tug trio

Nashville, Tennessee-based inland shipping company the Ingram Marine Group, operating under the name Ingram Barge Company, has formally named three recently delivered welded-steel pusher tugs built by Main Iron Works of Houma, Louisiana.

Sister vessels Patrick L. Morton (pictured), Teresa Sprouse, and Gary L. Holman each measure 69 by 30 feet (21 by 9.1 metres) and are each fitted with two Caterpillar EPA Tier III, 800hp (596kW) diesel engines driving Michigan Wheel propellers via Reintjes gearboxes. Electrical power for each tug is supplied by two John Deere generators.

Tank capacities are 12,000 gallons (45,420 litres) for fuel oil and 4,600 gallons (17,410 litres) for potable water.

The new pusher tugs were built in compliance to US Coast Guard Subchapter M regulations. Design work was undertaken by Ingram Marine and Main Iron Works.

The three newbuilds belong to a series of 10 pusher tugs ordered by Ingram Marine. All were named after three Ingram Marine employees who have each been working with the company for over 25 years.
