New passenger terminal opens at Batangas Port, Philippines

Port operators DP World and Asian Terminals and the Philippine government formally opened a new passenger terminal at the Port of Batangas in the Philippines on Friday, April 26.

The opening ceremony, wherein Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was guest of honour, marks the official start of operations at the US$25 million terminal following a two-year construction period.

Located 110 kilometres from Manila, the Batangas Passenger Terminal will serve as the Philippines’ largest inter-island hub, connecting mainland Luzon to key island provinces and destinations in Visayas and Mindanao. DP World said the modernisation has more than doubled the terminal’s capacity, accommodating up to eight million passengers annually.

The Port of Batangas also hosts a container terminal primarily serving the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.

The modernised 15,000-square-metre terminal boasts modern facilities and amenities for the comfort and convenience of passengers. Features include centralised air-conditioning, energy-efficient LED lighting, and comprehensive passenger services such as restaurants, shops, and restrooms.

The terminal also provides infrastructure, shuttle van services, and electric vehicles to ensure accessibility and convenience for all passengers even those with limited mobility.
