German yard wins order for ocean-going residential yacht

German shipyard Meyer Werft has been selected to build a new residential yacht for Malta-based Ocean Residences Development (ORD).

The future Njord will measure 289.3 by 33.5 metres and will have capacity for 117 passengers and crew. Power will be provided by a hybrid LNG and battery propulsion system that will deliver a speed of 21 knots.

Although intended to operate mainly as a residential yacht with 117 apartments, Njord will also be equipped to conduct scientific and oceanographic research missions.
