Strategic Marine wins workboat order

Singapore’s Strategic Marine has secured a contract with an unnamed oil company to build a purpose-designed workboat.

The 12-metre vessel will be operated primarily as a daughter craft from deployment from a larger mother ship. Duties will include line handling and crew transfer.

The workboat will have a two-tonne capstan, a five-tonne tow hook, and space for up to 10 passengers. Waterjets will propel the vessel to speeds of up to 25 knots at full load.

The contract was awarded to Strategic Marine following a competitive tender process. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2021.
