Six new patrol craft enter service with Singapore’s MPA

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has begun operating six new patrol craft on security and marine environmental protection duties at the Port of Singapore.

The vessels each have a length of 17 metres, multi-sensor marine thermal cameras, chemical gas detectors, oil containment booms, and a small rescue boat with a man overboard recovery system.

The craft will also be equipped with an intelligent port monitoring system to enhance the MPA’s seaward capabilities in conducting enforcement patrols and responding to marine emergencies. With predictive capabilities using both real-time and historical data, the patrol craft can carry out targeted enforcement and response mitigation.

Integrating data analytics with onboard surveillance, navigation, and communication systems will also improve information relay from the craft to shore-based command centres and increase MPA port inspectors’ situational awareness of ongoing activities.
