The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) decommissioned three of its Fearless-class patrol vessels in a ceremony at Tuas Naval Base on Tuesday, August 27.

RSS Fearless (pictured), RSS Brave, and RSS Dauntless, which had all served for over 20 years, are being retired to make way for three new Independence-class littoral mission vessels (LMVs) scheduled to become fully operational by 2020.

The Fearless-class vessels were among the first RSN ships to be equipped with hull-mounted sonar and remote engine room monitoring systems. Their primary mission was anti-submarine warfare (ASW).
