Pakistan’s Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works recently laid the keel of the sixth Hangor-class diesel-electric attack submarine ordered by the Pakistan Navy.

This submarine and another three will be the only four boats of the Hangor-class to be built in Pakistan. The remaining four submarines, including class lead boat PNS Hangor, are under various stages of construction at China Shipbuilding Trading Company’s facilities just outside Shanghai.

Upon completion, each submarine will have a length of 76 metres, a hull diameter of 8.4 metres, a displacement of 2,800 tonnes, and armament consisting of torpedoes, cruise missiles, and anti-ship missiles.
