Norwegian aquaculture technology company the AKVA Group has been selected to build a new feed barge for compatriot fish farm operator Lovundlaks.

The barge will fulfill the customer’s requirement for a platform that will also feature facilities for the safe handling of dead fish, silage, and acid at an exposed location.

AKVA said the barge is designed to meet Lovundlaks’ needs for remote operation, while also maintaining high quality and optimised performance.

Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. As with all feed barges built by AKVA, the vessel will be delivered complete and fully self-contained with AKVA’s proprietary feed systems, generators, a control room, living quarters, and safety equipment.
