Nova Sea to expand feed barge fleet

Norwegian salmon farm operator Nova Sea has placed an order for a new feed barge to be supplied by local aquaculture equipment specialist Akva Group.

The 22- by 12-metre, 450-tonne feed barge will have ten feeding lines and a shore power connection. It is intended to feed 20 pens at Nova Sea’s Træna location 33 nautical miles out of the Helgeland coast in Northern Norway.

The barge will also be capable of withstanding wave heights of up to four metres and will be equipped for charging of electric boats.

Onboard facilities will include a kitchen, cabins with bathroom, wardrobes, a warehouse, a workshop, and veterinary room.

Delivery is scheduled for the spring of 2021. It will be the twenty-second feed barge to be supplied by Akva to Nova Sea.
