Scorpio Bulkers awards LOI for wind turbine installation vessel

Scorpio Bulkers has awarded South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) a letter of intent (LOI) for the construction of a new wind turbine installation vessel.
The GustoMSC-designed vessel will be fitted with a leg-encircling crane and will be capable of installing wind turbines onto pre-prepared foundations in water depths of up to 65 metres.
The contract is expected to be signed early in the fourth quarter of 2020 and will include options to construct up to an additional three units having similar specifications.
Delivery is scheduled for 2023.
