Sanmar Shipyards releases three new tug models

Turkish tug builder Sanmar Shipyards has revealed three new tug model offerings on top of the new design compact tractor tug delivered earlier this year to a New Zealand port.

Sanmar has already received four orders for one of its new tug models, a 29-metre tug packing a bollard pull of 90 tonnes. All four will be delivered this autumn.

The Robert Allan Ltd designs are ASDs with an ABS full FiFi1 classification and employ MTU main engines driving Schottel rudder propellers.

As standard, they have Ibercisa winches fore and aft, a Data Hidrolic towing hook and a Palfinger deck crane. Each vessel has five en suite cabins to accommodate eight personnel.

A larger model based on an existing Robert Allan Ltd design has also been unveiled. The vessel measures in at a length of 33 metres and offers a 75-tonne bollard pull.

A smaller, 16-metre tug with a 16-tonne bollard pull uses two Caterpillar C18 engines with conventional fixed pitch propellers for mooring operations.
