Remontowa launches second of four hybrid ferries for Norled

Poland’s Remontowa Shipbuilding has launched the second diesel/electric hybrid ferry in a series for Norwegian operator Norled.

The 114- by 17-metre ferry will have capacity for 296 passengers and up to 120 cars. In the standard mode of operation, all power will be drawn from the batteries, which will be charged in just 11 minutes while the vessel is at berth.

Remontowa is building a total of four vessels in the same series for Norled. The first two units were ordered in July 2018 while the order for the remaining two vessels was placed a month later.

The ferries were designed by LMG Marin.
