Singapore shipbuilder Strategic Marine has delivered a new fast crewboat to Thai offshore support company Truth Maritime Services.

Named TMS Ranod, the vessel is the first in a planned series of two crewboats to be built by Strategic Marine to a design by Australian naval architecture firm Southerly Designs.

The newbuild has an aluminium hull, an LOA of 42 metres, a moulded beam of 8.2 metres, a maximum draught of 1.9 metres, business class seating for up to 70 technicians, and 140 square metres of total deck space for the transport of assorted payloads. A hybrid propulsion arrangement designed in collaboration with the client uses an energy storage system to capture and harness energy generated by the main engines for various applications on the vessel.

A highly efficient new hull form combined with a Z-bow will improve seakeeping and will require less power for the same speed and deadweight tonnage, reducing fuel consumption and lowering emissions without impacting the vessel’s cargo- and passenger-carrying capability.

Strategic Marine said TMS will operate the new crewboat in servicing customers in the Southeast Asia offshore petroleum exploration and production market.
