Russian yard starts building new batch of Project RSD59 cargo ships

Russian shipbuilder Krasnoye Sormovo has begun construction of a new batch of Project RSD59 inland and coastal dry cargo vessels for various local customers.

Like other vessels in the series, the newbuildings will each have a length of 140 metres, a beam of 17 metres, a maximum draught of 4.5 metres, and two cargo holds with a total capacity of 11,292 cubic metres.

Krasnoye Sormovo said that improvements in its construction processes mean that each Project RSD59 ship can now be completed in six months, or three months less compared to previous years.
