Construction begins on Svitzer’s new maritime training centre in Newcastle
Svitzer Australia has confirmed that construction has commenced on a new maritime training simulator building at the company’s tug base at the Port of Newcastle.
The centre will house simulators supplied by Kongsberg Digital. The simulators will help prepare crews for operation of Svitzer Australia’s future tugs, which are scheduled to enter service at the Port of Newcastle next year.
Local builders and contractors are being engaged to deliver the construction project in Newcastle, including for design, civil, and electrical works.
Svitzer will provide further information regarding the build completion and opening for the simulator facility in coming months, as well as opportunities for shared training and familiarisation.
