Taiwan’s Lung Teh Shipbuilding has begun construction of a new ship that will be used to help train the crews who will man the country’s fleet of modern fishing vessels.

Upon completion in 2023, the vessel will have a length of 78 metres, a beam of 15 metres, a displacement of 2,200 tonnes, and capacity for 86 crewmembers and other personnel.

The training vessel will be capable of operating in the Pacific and Indian Oceans as well as in waters close to Taiwan and Japan.
