Van Oord dredger Vox Amalia begins work on first project

Vox Amalia, Van Oord’s newest trailing suction hopper dredger, has started on its first project earlier this week.

At Den Helder in the Netherlands, the vessel is reinforcing the coastline by placing more than 3.5 million cubic metres of sand in a deep trench just off the coast.

Van Oord has deployed the dredger to North Holland in fulfilment of a contract awarded by Rijkswaterstaat, the operational arm of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
