Vanguard Q-West Isuzu generator Stamford Zenith Engineering

Zenith Engineering recently supplied a 70kVA keel cooled genset to Q-West’s 30-metre mussel harvester Vanguard. The generator will give continuous 70 kVA and was load tested on a resistive load bank to a maximum of 95 amps/phase – three-phase. This build included the Isuzu six-cylinder 6.5-litre engine (6BG1QW) and the Stamford alternator UCI 224G (stand alone rating 85 kVA, three-phase).

“The benefit of this genset using the Isuzu is the legendary reliability that Isuzu has proven to provide over many years now,” Zenith told Ausmarine. “The commercial marine industry often favours this setup as the engine is a basic mechanically governed engine not common rail, which gives the end user peace of mind and easier maintenance options.”
