Norway’s BOA orders tug pair from Dutch builder

Norwegian offshore support specialist BOA has placed an order for two tugs in a series to be built by the Damen Shipyards Group of the Netherlands.

The ice-capable, shallow-draught tugs will be named BOA Hugin and BOA Munin after two ravens in Norse mythology. Each will have a length of 30 metres, a beam of 10 metres, a deck crane, an aft winch, a modular oil recovery system, and a shore heating system.

Due to Damen’s practice of constructing vessels in series for stock, the tugs were already under construction at the time of order and will be delivered later this year.
