Norwegian transport operator orders ambulance boat from local builder

Transport company Norwegian Rig Shuttle (NRS) has selected Alesund boat builder Maritime Partner for the construction of a new catamaran ambulance boat.

The 22-metre vessel will be a near-identical sister of Thea Jensen (pictured), which Maritime Partner delivered to Øksfjord’s Loppa Legeskyssbater ambulance boat service in late 2020.

The new ambulance boat will be of all-aluminium construction and will be powered by Volvo engines fitted with SCR systems to ensure compliance with IMO Tier III emissions regulations. Facilities will include a medical bay and a passenger lounge that can accommodate 30 people.
