Germany’s FRS to acquire French Caribbean ferry company

German ferry company FRS has entered into an agreement to acquire L’Express des Îles, a fast ferry company based in the French Caribbean territory of Guadeloupe.

FRS said the acquisition is part of its strategic realignment with a focus on diversifying the range of offered routes.

L’Express des Îles has been in operation for 37 years, having been originally known as Antilles Trans Express. The company initially offered fast ferry services between the islands of Guadeloupe, Les Saintes, and Marie Galante and then expanded to Martinique, Dominica, and St Lucia.

The current L’Express des Îles fleet consists of three high-speed catamarans.
