As the world celebrates the start of the Lunar New Year, offshore vessels are busy securing new work in different regions. Drilling operations have been picking up as evidenced by new charter awards for drillships and support vessels, though the survey, supply, and accommodation sectors have also been getting their fair share of action.

C-Bed accommodation vessel tapped to support Hornsea 1 and 2 wind farms

Danish offshore accommodation provider C-Bed has secured a double contract for the accommodation vessel Wind Innovation to support Ørsted’s offshore wind farm construction projects in UK waters.

The vessel will be deployed at the Hornsea 1 and 2 wind farms, where it will provide accommodation and logistical services. The Port of Immingham near the Humber Estuary will serve as a base port for crew changes and loading of fresh supplies.

Aker BP selects Møkster PSV for short-term drilling campaign

Aker BP has chosen Simon Møkster Shipping’s high-specification platform supply vessel (PSV) Stril Mar to support drilling activities estimated to last four months.

The use of Stril Mar falls under an existing three-year frame agreement signed by Aker BP and Møkster in March 2019.

Maersk Drilling awarded contracts by Aker BP, KNOC

Maintaining its focus on home waters, Aker BP has awarded Maersk Drilling an additional two-well contract for the low-emission jackup rig Maersk Integrator. The plan is that in direct continuation of the rig’s previously announced work scope with a different operator, Maersk Integrator will return to Aker BP’s Ivar Aasen field for a two-well campaign expected to commence in the third quarter of 2021.

The contract has an estimated duration of 73 days and a value of approximately US$19.5 million, excluding integrated services provided and potential performance bonuses.

Maersk Drilling has also secured work on the other side of the world, thanks to Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) selecting the drillship Maersk Viking to drill one exploration well in Block 6-1 offshore South Korea.

The contract for Maersk Viking is expected to commence in June 2021, in direct continuation of the rig’s previous work scope, with an estimated duration of 45 days. The contract value is approximately US$14.5 million, including mobilisation and demobilisation fees.

Østensjø Rederi vessels score work with DeepOcean, Fugro

The beginning of the Lunar New Year sees great fortune for Norwegian operator Østensjø Rederi, as indicated by the recent awards of charters for three vessels in its diverse fleet.

First, DeepOcean has awarded new contracts for the supply vessel Edda Fauna and the survey vessel Edda Flora. The contracts will commence in the first quarter of 2021 and will secure firm utilisation until the end of 2022.

Østensjø Rederi has also agreed on a contract extension with Fugro for the survey vessel Edda Sun, securing firm utilisation until the fourth quarter of 2021. The vessel has been chartered on a bareboat contract to Østensjø Rederi since 2017.
