Chinese yard cuts steel for first ferry in series for Finnlines

PASSENGER VESSEL WEEK

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Weihai has cut the first steel for the lead ship of a new series of Ro-Pax ferries ordered by Finnlines.

The future Finnsirius will measure 235 metres long and will have space for 1,100 passengers and 5,100 lane metres for freight. The ferry and sister vessel Finncanopus, whose construction will commence in the coming months, will become Finnlines’ newest flagships when they enter service in the second half of 2023.

Features will include automooring systems and shore charging equipment while amenities will include cabins, spas, gyms, restaurants, and duty-free shops.

Finnsirius and Finncanopus will be deployed on the Finland–Sweden route.
