Tallink to resume passenger services to Finland on May 14

As a result of the decision made by the Finnish government to allow passenger transport to Finland on ferries again from May 14, 2020 for workers and people with unavoidable reasons for travel, Estonia’s Tallink Grupp has reopened ticket sales for passengers wishing to travel to Finland.

Tallink will also return the shuttle ferry Star (pictured) to the Tallinn-Helsinki route for peak weekend departures from May 15. The shuttle ferries Megastar, Baltic Princess, and Galaxy will continue to operate on the same route according to their respective normal schedules.

Passenger transport on ferries to Finland was suspended on April 11 at the request of the Finnish government in order to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. As the pandemic situation improved, the Finnish government adopted a decision at a cabinet meeting held earlier this week to restore passenger traffic with ferries to Finland for the Schengen area citizens, who need to travel to Finland for work reasons or for other unavoidable reasons.

Travel for tourism purposes to Finland is currently still not permitted and decisions regarding allowing travel to the country for tourism will be made by the national government in due course as the pandemic situation improves further.
