Windstar Cruises’ ship rejoins fleet following refit

The 1988-built cruise ship Star Breeze has rejoined the fleet of Seattle-based operator Windstar Cruises following an extensive refit at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard.

The work had involved the extension of the vessel’s hull length from 134 metres to 160 metres to accommodate a new mid-body section containing 50 additional suites that could house 100 passengers as well as two restaurants.

The refit had also encompassed the renewal of the engines and diesel generators and the modernisation of public areas, open decks, and the original passenger cabins.

Similar refit programmes are currently underway for Star Breeze‘s sisters Star Legend and Star Pride. The total cost of the programme is approximately US$250 million.
