UK offshore support specialist NR Marine Services has taken delivery of a new catamaran crewboat built by Isle of Wight-based Diverse Marine.

The Walker Marine-designed NR Predator has an LOA of 27.6 metres, a beam of 9.8 metres, a draught of 2.4 metres, a depth of five metres, and space for 24 technicians and four crewmembers. Four Volvo Penta IPS1050 engines with a total installed power of 3,352 kW will drive propellers to deliver a top speed of 30 knots and a service speed of 25 knots.

NR Marine said extensive CFD was carried out to develop the hull form, which incorporates an ultra-fine entry for excellent head sea performance and tower access but with high reserves of buoyancy above the main chine. This will allow for equally good following and stern quarter seakeeping performance.

NR Predator is classed by Bureau Veritas. The crewboat will undergo client and MCA audits before starting work for one of NR Marine’s clients in East Anglia.
