Netherlands-based Kooiman Marine Group has secured a contract for the design and construction of a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) from German construction company Hegeman Gruppe.

Kooiman Engineering and Hegemann subsidiary Hegemann Dredging will cooperate on the design of the vessel, which will be named Hegemann V. It will have an LOA of 75.9 metres, a beam of 15.8 metres, and hopper capacities of 1,500 cubic metres of silt or sand and 1,930 cubic metres of lower-density dredged materials.

Hegemann V will be used for maintenance dredging in ports as well as inland and coastal waterways.
