Furetank orders dual-fuel tanker from Chinese yard

Swedish shipowner Furetank has placed an order for a new dual-fuel tanker to be built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.

The 17,999DWT vessel will be designed to be capable of running on either LNG or liquefied biogas (LBG). It will also have a battery hybrid solution and other features for reducing in lower emissions of CO2, SOx, NOx, and hazardous particles.

The ship will also have ice class 1A notation and a total cargo capacity of 20,306 cubic metres.

Delivery is scheduled for January 2024. Furetank’s contract with the yard also includes options for additional vessels.
