A new vehicle carrier ordered by Chinese shipping company the Anhui Provincial Port and Shipping Group was recently launched at the facilities of Wuhu Xinyuan Shipbuilding.
Upon completion, Hangtong 01 will be operated primarily on inland routes, transporting vehicle cargo between Hefei and Shanghai. Design work was provided by the Wuhan Yangtze River Ship Design Institute.
The vessel will have an LOA of 90 metres and a maximum capacity of 330 vehicles. This number will also include 90 electric vehicles fitted with lithium batteries.
China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) has begun construction on the fourth vessel in a series of pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) ordered by SAIC Anji Logistics.
The 228- by 37.8-metre vessel will be able to transport 9,000 CEUs at speeds of up to 18.3 knots. The main engine can be configured to run on methanol fuel in the future.

Hong Kong-based dry bulk specialist Pacific Basin Shipping has placed orders for four low-emission, Ultramax bulk carriers in a series to be built by Japan's Nihon Shipyard.
The ships will each have a deadweight of 64,000 and dual-fuel engines. Two of the vessels are contracted jointly with Nihon Shipyard and Imabari Shipbuilding and the remaining two are contracted with Mitsui and Co. The four ships will be delivered at a rate of two each in 2028 and 2029.
A new Ro-Ro vessel ordered by Netherlands-based Amasus Shipping has been launched into the water for the first time at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China.
Once completed, Rotra Futura will be used primarily for the transport of large offshore wind turbine components. Delivery of the Ro-Ro to Amasus Shipping is scheduled for 2025.

The methanol-ready, dual-fuel multi-purpose AAL Antwerp was designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) in collaboration with AAL and Columbia Shipmanagement in compliance with DNV class rules. It is a sister of AAL Hamburg, AAL Limassol, and AAL Houston, which were delivered earlier this year.
