Imabari Shipbuilding delivers 184,000DWT Capesize bulk carrier
Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding has delivered a new 182,028 DWT Capesize bulk carrier, Cape Wisteria, from its Saijo shipyard last June 17.
The Panama-flagged vessel measures 291.9 metres in length with a beam of 45 metres. According to the builder, the ship's design complies with the common structural rules for bulk carriers and oil tankers and represents the largest ship size allowed to enter the Port of Dunkirk. Its cargo holds are designed for high-density cargoes such as iron ore.
Hoegh Autoliners names newest dual-fuel car carrier
Norwegian shipping company Höegh Autoliners formally named its newest pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) in a ceremony in Shizuoka, Japan, on Friday, June 20.
Höegh Sunrise is the fifth vessel in a series of 12 PCTCs. Höegh Aurora and Höegh Borealis, the first two ships, were delivered in 2024.

Chinese shipbuilder Taizhou Sanfu Heavy Industry has launched a new triple-deck cargo ship ordered by Germany’s Briese Group for the transport of bulk, heavy lift, and project cargo.
The Bureau Veritas-classed ship belongs to a series that will be operated under a long-term time charter by Briese subsidiary BBC Chartering for worldwide trading.
Anhui Port and Shipping Group's newest car carrier sails on maiden voyage
A new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) was handed over to Chinese shipowner the Anhui Port and Shipping Group in a ceremony in Shanghai on Thursday, June 19.
AICC Kunpeng departed on its maiden operational voyage later that same day, carrying a cargo of vehicles for distribution in Europe.
China's COSCO Shipping taps local yard for 30 new grain carriers
China's COSCO Shipping, via its COSCO Shipping Bulk Lines division, and CITIC Financial Leasing have awarded Fujian Shipbuilding a contract for the construction of 30 multi-purpose grain carriers in a series.
The contract has a total value of CNY10.8 billion (US$1.5 billion) and covers the construction of all 30 ships through 2028 at the facilities of Fujian Shipbuilding subsidiary Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding. Initial deliveries are scheduled to take place in 2027.
