Dutch naval architecture firm Vuyk Engineering has been contracted by Polish shipyard Partner Stocznia for the design of a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) with a capacity of 3,000 cubic metres.

Vuyk Engineering said the TSHD is being developed as a compact dredging vessel with a balanced combination of dredging capability and operational flexibility.

The design will integrate the hopper arrangement, trailing suction system and propulsion configuration within a single vessel platform.

Vuyk Engineering developed the design in close collaboration with Partner Stocznia, which specialises in dredgers and specialised offshore ships.

Russian shipbuilder Stroyliderplus has completed construction of a new dredging support tender ordered by local port operator Rosmorport.

The workboat has been named Aliot (Алиот) after a star in the constellation Ursa Major.

She is the second of three Project FPW1 vessels that are designed to support the operations of Rosmorport's Project FPDG3 non-self-propelled cutter suction dredgers in port and channel waters.

Beryl (Берилл), the first vessel in the Project FPW1 series, was handed over to Rosmorport in late 2025.

Baggerbedrijf de Boer – Dutch Dredging took delivery of a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) in a ceremony in Haiphong, Vietnam, on Wednesday, August 26.

Magdalena was built by Nam Trieu Shipbuilding, a division under Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.

Design work on the vessel was undertaken by Royal IHC in compliance with Bureau Veritas class requirements.

The TSHD has an LOA of 79.95 metres, a beam of 15 metres, and a hopper capacity of 2,300 cubic metres.

Shipbuilder C&C Marine and Repair of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, has handed over a new idler barge to Orion Marine Construction.

Designed by the Shearer Group, the unmanned steel barge will support Orion Marine's dredging operations by connecting with new and existing dredgers in the company's fleet.

The barge measures 160 feet (49 metres) long and features an integrated walking-spud system designed to advance the combined dredger and idler barge unit in increments of approximately 30 feet (nine metres). The system incorporates a travelling spud carrier, a fixed stern spud, dedicated spud towers, and electrically driven hoisting winches.

Boskalis takes delivery of new trailing suction hopper dredger

Boskalis has taken delivery of a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) built by Royal IHC.

Seaway has a length of 178 metres, a beam of 38 metres, and a hopper capacity of 31,000 cubic metres, making her one of the largest TSHDs in operation.

She is equipped with a double suction pipe equipped with underwater pumps and two discharge pumps with a combined discharge capacity of 15,000 kW.
