China Shipbuilding Group subsidiary China Shipbuilding Chengxi has launched a new 70,000DWT wood chip carrier ordered by Singapore-based Nova Group.
The vessel is the first of a planned series of four ordered by Nova. China Shipbuilding Chengxi claims that, once completed, it will be the world’s largest wood chip carrier by deadweight.
The ABS-classed vessel will have an LOA of 215.4 metres, a beam of 37 metres, three 40-tonne deck cranes, and a total cargo capacity of 142,000 cubic metres.
