Sea trials begin for future Indian Navy aircraft carrier
Cochin Shipyard (CSL) began sea trials of the future Indian Navy aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on Wednesday, August 4.
The 45,000-tonne, 262-metre carrier will undergo further fitting out at CSL after the trials. Once completed, it will be able to embark 196 officers and 1,449 enlisted sailors as well as an air wing consisting of 26 MiG-29 fighter aircraft and 10 helicopters.
The future Vikrant will be commissioned into service in August 2022.
