Indian technology startup company NavAlt Solar and Electric Boats is currently developing a new series of fishing boats that can operate on solar power.

The vessels will each have a catamaran hull, a large main deck, and a fish storage area. The power for the electric motor on each boat will be supplied from a dedicated battery pack that can be recharged from the local grid as well as through the installed solar panels.

NavAlt said the solar-powered boats will be marketed primarily to operators of small boats that typically sail out to five nautical miles from the coast.
