Construction completed on new seiner for Russian Far East operator

Russian shipyard Torsiotest has completed construction of a new seine netting vessel ordered by Far East operator V.I. Lenin Fishing Collective Farm.

Oktyabr'skiy is the latest example in the Project 04130 series of compact seine netters designed by local engineering firm Forss Technology in compliance with Russian Maritime Register Shipping requirements. The first two examples, Sokoch and Apacha, were delivered to the same customer in 2024.

Like her sisters, Oktyabr'skiy was designed to catch fish in raw form with processing only to be done subsequently at onshore factories.

Because there is no need for onboard processing facilities, the vessel was built to be as small as possible and with a shallow draught to permit access to a wider range of deep-sea and near-shore areas.

The vessel has all-steel construction, a length of 26.45 metres, a beam of eight metres, a draught of only 2.2 metres, a depth of 3.65 metres, a displacement of 306.3 tonnes, a gross tonnage of 211, and a cargo hold capacity of 90 cubic metres.

Power is provided by a diesel engine with a rated output of 441 kW driving a fixed-pitch propeller.
