Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) of Anacortes, Washington, has launched the second harbour tug in a series that it is building for the US Navy.

The 88-foot (27-metre) vessel, temporarily designated Yard Tug (YT) 811, will undergo acceptance trials in the late summer of 2021. Delivery to the navy will take place shortly afterwards.

YT 811 will be stationed in Naval Base Kitsap in Washington alongside sister tug Rainier, which was delivered by DCI in 2020.

All six tugs in the series will utilise a design developed by Robert Allan Ltd.
