Sanmar delivers second tug to Somaliland Port Authority

TUG & SALVAGE WEEK

On behalf of Somaliland Port Authority, P&O Maritime Logistics (P&OML), the marine services arm of global port operator DP World, has taken delivery of another Sanmar Shipyards tug for the DP World-managed Berbera Port in Somaliland.

M Jeex will join the 2018-built Egal, the first Sanmar tug delivered to the Somaliland Port Authority, in providing towage services at Berbera Port.

The newbuild has an LOA of 25 metres, a beam of 8.6 metres, a maximum draught of four metres, and two Caterpillar 3212B 1,230kW engines that deliver a speed of 12 knots and a bollard pull of 45 tonnes. Like its sister, it is designed to perform ship berthing and unberthing as well as emergency deep sea towage in coastal waters.
