Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has been contracted by the Association of Maryland Pilots for the construction of a new pilot boat.

The all-aluminium vessel will be the fourth in a series that Gladding-Hearn will build for the pilots’ association. It will have a length of 16 metres, a beam of five metres, a draught of 1.4 metres, and two Volvo Penta D16 477kW EPA Tier III-compliant diesel engines that will deliver speeds in excess of 25 knots.

The pilot boat is expected to be handed over to its new owners in December of this year.

Gladding-Hearn is also currently building a 14.7-metre vessel for the same customer.
