Construction starts on new firefighting vessel for Polish seaport authority

TUG AND SALVAGE WEEK

Poland’s Remontowa Shipbuilding has cut the first steel for a new ice-capable firefighting vessel ordered by the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority.

The 29- by 10-metre Strazak-28 is scheduled to be completed and delivered in October 2022.

Although the vessel will be used primarily for firefighting, it will also be capable of performing harbour towing and search and rescue (SAR) duties.
