US Navy ship underwent repairs in June

A series of voyage repairs were conducted on the guided missile destroyer USS Farragut in Bergen, Norway earlier this month.

The Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Centre teamed with US Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Centre and Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Centre to conduct the repairs.

The ship was on deployment as part of the USS Harry S Truman Strike Group when a gas turbine generator cooling fan failure required an unscheduled replacement.

The complex repair job required rigging services and a temporary access cut to the generator intake trunk with subsequent re-welding and inspections to replace the broken cooling fan.

USS Farragut has since re-entered service.
