UAE defence ministry awards AED3.5 billion OPV newbuilding contract to local shipyard

The UAE Ministry of Defence (MOD) has awarded Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) a contract for the construction of four Falaj 3-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) for the country’s navy.

This will be ADSB’s second newbuilding contract for the UAE Navy following the delivery of five Baynunah-class corvettes between 2010 and 2017.

The contract has a total value of approximately AED3.5 billion (US$952.9 million).
