The future USS Tripoli, the US Navy’s second America-class amphibious assault ship, has completed acceptance trials over the span of three days in the Gulf of Mexico.

During the trials, the navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey performed a rigorous evaluation on all of the ship’s major systems including propulsion, communications, navigation, combat systems, and aviation capabilities.

The future Tripoli has since returned to Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division for final outfitting. The ship is scheduled for commissioning in the summer of 2020.
