FREMM frigate Spartaco Schergat launched

A launching ceremony was held for the Multi-Mission European Frigate (FREMM) Spartaco Schergat at Italy’s Riva Trigoso Shipyard on Saturday, January 26.

The vessel will then undergo fitting-out at Fincantieri’s La Spezia Shipyard before its scheduled delivery to the Italian Navy in 2020.

The ninth in a planned class of 10 FREMMs, Spartaco Schergat has a length of 144 metres, a width of 19.7 metres, a full load displacement of 6,700 tonnes, and a crew of 200. It will have a maximum speed of over 27 knots.
