Stena Line's newest hybrid Ro-Ro sails on delivery voyage
A new hybrid Ro-Ro vessel ordered by Swedish shipping company Stena Line recently departed China on its delivery voyage to Belfast in the UK.
Stena Futura is the first in a new series of two Ro-Ro vessels to be fitted with hybrid propulsion systems that include multi-fuel engines that can operate on methanol and biofuel. The ships will also feature shore power charging connections.
Briese Group's newest newest multi-purpose carrier launched in China
Chinese shipbuilder Taizhou Sanfu Heavy Industry launched a new triple-deck cargo ship on Friday, July 25.
The 11,000DWT BBC Shanghai belongs to a series ordered by Germany’s Briese Group for the transport of bulk, heavy lift, and project cargo. The vessels will be operated under long-term time charters by Briese subsidiary BBC Chartering for worldwide trading.
Imabari delivers new 40000DWT bulk carrier
Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding has delivered a new 40,000 DWT bulk carrier, Clipper Mallorca, from its main Imabari shipyard on July 22.
The Singapore-flagged vessel has a deadweight tonnage of 40,313 and a gross tonnage of 25,003. It features a length of 182.9 metres, a beam of 31 metres, and is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK). The vessel is powered by a single MAN 6G4G5ME-C9.7 main engine, giving it a service speed of approximately 14 knots.
New methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulker hits the water
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, via its Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) shipyard in the Philippines, recently launched a new Kamsarmax bulk carrier.
Upon completion, the vessel will have a dual-fuel propulsion system that can be configured to operate on methanol. Tsuneishi said that the vessel is the world's largest methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carrier with a length of 229 metres.
The vessel is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage in January 2026.
Netherlands' Vertom christens new hybrid cargo ship
Dutch shipping company the Vertom Group formally named a new hybrid cargo vessel at the facilities of Royal T Shipyards on Thursday, July 24.
Vertom Tula, which was launched that same day, belongs to a series that also includes Vertom Cyta, Vertom Tomma, Vertom Lisa, Vertom Willemijn and Vertom Joyce. The ships were designed by Dutch naval architecture firm Groot Ship Design and are capable of transporting bulk, general, and containerised cargo.
